Are they truly small?  Yes!

1How do you know?  How can you tell from the few pictures we have posted?  They LOOK like regular Herefords!! Yup.  They LOOK like regular Herefords.  That's the whole point.  We wanted Miniatures with every bit as high quality as any of their huge counterparts.  We wanted them even better!  No dwarves in our herd, and no pathetic excuses for cows.  Many breeds of animals have been miniaturized over the years, many of them lost nearly all qualities that identified them with the original breed from which they descend.  Our goal was to produce a Miniature that looked exactly like the original animals except for one attribute: size.  No distended bellies, no heads too large for the rest of the body.  That's why it has taken us 35 years to reduce the size by only a few inches.  If we chose to breed the smallest animals possible no matter the cost, we could have had extremely tiny cows by now.  But they1 would have lost the important qualities that made Herefords famous for so many years.  They wouldn't have been Herefords anymore.  Yes, our girls look like the big Herefords.  They are Herefords.
So how do you know you're getting a smaller animal?  Simple.  Get out your tape measure.  On every animal in our Sale Barn, we post a current or estimated frame score...if possible, we include an actual current height.  Learn about our Frame Score Charts.  Learn how to use them.  Measure 1the animal's height from the floor next to yourself.  Our cattle will stand about as high as your hip or waist, depending on your height and the height of the animal you're looking at.  Full sized Herefords will probably stand as tall as your head!  As always, don't hesitate to call or email us if you have questions on any of our animals...we love to hear from you.
